Designer 6.07 for UniOP HMI


This is a major release of the software and brings you several useful innovations. Among the most important features you will find:

Enhanced Recipe Support
Extended recipe memory and flash storage; Programming interface has been integrated in the Designer workspace;

TrueType Font Support
TrueType font support has been added for all numeric objects; new options for font selection are available in the "Layout" tab of the "Numeric Field Properties" dialog. With this addition all C-Series product have a complete support of TrueType fonts for all screen objects.

Object Visibility
Dynamic show/hide of all screen objects; each object has a dynamic visibility attribute; settings are available in the "Attribute" tab of the object properties dialog box;
- various improvements to alarm handling, including multiple strategies in the alarm presentation (priority-based or time- based);

Miscellaneous features
- support of leading zeroes in numeric objects;
- masked data entry mode (password-like);
- internal work buffer memory; a new internal memory resource available to help communication tasks ;
- configurable placeholder for numeric objects when data is not available.
- revised memory option menu to enhance usability and flexibility; the new memory option menu already supports the forthcoming USB port.
- automatic firmware upgrade procedures; firmware is automatically copied to the system flash whenever the user memory contains a set of compatible firmware files.

Designer 6.07 BETA release candidate version is available for download from the UniOP web site, in the "Docs & Download Software" section, with access restricted to distributor class accounts.

The new UniOP panel firmware is distributed with Designer. Current BETA version of the firmware has been marked as V5.80E.

Important note on USB connection
This new firmware includes support of USB port when this is available.
You may have noticed that the recent deliveries of eTOP06C already include the USB port on the side of the Ethernet port.
During the next few months the availability of the USB port will be extended to all C-series products (except the eTOP02C). Firmware version 5.80E or higher makes this port functional for use with Flash drives.

Important note on UniOP firmware upgrade

The V5.80 firmware for "C" series units has a different files system in the user memory. It is compatible with all units delivered since today.

The new file system is compatible with the standard FAT16 files system; the optional external SSFDC card can be formatted and programmed with any standard Smart media card reader.
Designer 6.07 includes already an updated version of the UniSSFDC utility that will make existing UniLOAD devices compatible with the new FAT16 file system.

Assuming to work only with the panel Internal Memory, the procedure to upgrade a unit from the current version will require the following steps:
- download of the new boot; it can be done via UniDataExchanger using the command “Download Boot”
- at the end of the boot transfer, the unit is automatically restarted
- after panel restart, format the user memory
- download with Designer software the new versions of boot, firmware and mips code to the user memory
- restart the unit
- the unit restart will automatically install in the system flash the new firmware
