LFP Cubic Intelligent Level Sensors

Intelligent fluid sensor solutions

Liquid level measurement in tanks and vessels is a critical part of industrial process applications involving the careful and accurate monitoring of fluids used in applications such as food and beverage production as well as pharmaceuticals and process industries.

Commonly level measurement is used for inventory management, providing accurate level readings of particular container tanks or vessels. This is especially important in ensuring that the right materials are available and to ensure efficient and cost-effective management of wet stocks. Careful level management can also protect against leakage from the container which is especially of concern when containers are holding hazardous chemicals.

Each level measurement application requires careful consideration of the right monitoring solution...until now. Through years of development and level detection experience, SICK have developed a new and innovative level sensor for almost all liquids across a wide range of applications.

High flexibility and rugged design

The SICK LFP Cubic is a reliable liquid level sensor that utilises TDR technology (time domain reflectometry) to measure a range of different liquid levels without the need to recalibrate between fluids. The LFP utilises guided radar time-of-flight technology for measuring reflections of electromagnetic pulses which calculate the precise liquid level, regardless of fluid type. Integrated foam attenuation also ensure that even dense foaming won’t cause inaccurate results.

Thanks to the intuitive setup done directly on the LFP display with buttons, or alternatively through an IO link interface, setting up and taking measurements is made simple compared to alternative solutions which require a significant amount of setup time and calibration as well as a large amount of cabling and integration with PLC control.

With a rugged EHEDG certified construction, the LFP Cubic is built to withstand the most demanding environments including high pressure chemical wash down. Combined with a long service life design and compact footprint, the LFP can be easily installed into confined spaces as well as having rotatable housing for flexible installation.

Sensor Intelligence

Other benefits of the SICK LFP Cubic are:

  • Easy installation, commissioning and use
  • Patented foam attenuation for accurate level readings for any liquid
  • IP67 / IP69K enclosure rating and up to 180°C temperature rating
  • Available in full INOX stainless steel for food and beverage applications
  • Rod probes are interchangeable and rope mounted probes can be cut to specific lengths between 200mm and 4000mm
  • Titanium process connection is highly resistant to chemicals
  • Universal technology facilitating calibration-free measurement saves time and money
  • Up to four limit levels can be monitored with one sensor
