Gems Sensors was founded in 1955 by Edward H. Moore and Gordon Seigle. Edward had developed a level indicator from his basement which was eventually patented in 1959 for the small boat industry.

Today, they are a global designer and manufacturer of sensing and control solutions for a range of applications in sectors such as, agricultural equipment to locomotives and medical devices.

Gems Sensors expanded their global reach from North America to Europe and Asia and have sales, engineering and service offices in many other countries. Since 2019 they are shipping over 5 million sensors worldwide per year.
